Photos help, but the story behind a project matters more. For that reason, each example below explains what we found, what we repaired and how we finished it. Because every home is different, the work rarely follows a template.
Our base is in Alabaster, and we paint across Shelby County and the Birmingham area. However, we also travel for the right project, as the deck repair at Smith Lake in Cullman shows. Either way, the same careful prep comes first.
Before you request a quote, take a few minutes to look through the projects below. Then pick the ones closest to your own job, so we can talk about them together.
These three projects show how repairs, prep and finishing work together. First, we fix what is wrong. Then we finish the surface so it lasts.
Each card below links to the full project. Because the details matter, you will find what we repaired, how we prepared the surface and which finish we used.
Damaged deck boards and a severed joist came out, new ones went in, and a fresh coat of paint finished the whole deck at the lake.
Jacks and studs lifted a sagging ceiling back to level, then drywall repairs, decorative beams, paint and stain finished the work.
Pressure washing came first, then two coats of semitransparent stain, sprayed and back rolled, with a brush for corners and edges.
Cleaning, repairs and a protective stain, so outdoor wood lasts longer between coats.
Patching, sanding and priming first, so walls and ceilings are ready for fresh paint.
Prep and repairs come first, then ceilings, walls and trim get an even, clean finish.
These photos come from real jobs, including decks, fences, ceilings and doors. Although a finished surface looks simple, it starts with cleaning, repairs and priming. As a result, the photos show the final coat, not the full story, and the project cards explain the rest.
Yes, and the gallery above is the best place to start. Each project card also explains what we did, so you can see how the repairs and finish fit together. In addition, you can call (205) 223-2613 to ask about work that is similar to your job.
Yes, because paint and stain only last when the surface underneath is sound. For example, the Smith Lake deck needed new boards and a replacement joist before any finish went on. Likewise, the ceiling in Hoover needed lifting and drywall repairs before painting.
Stain needs a clean, dry surface to bond, so prep comes first. On the Hoover fence, for instance, we pressure washed to remove dust and debris before staining. When cleaning gets skipped, the finish can flake or peel much sooner than expected.
Semitransparent stain adds color while letting some of the wood grain show through. On the Hoover fence, we applied two coats because that is what the customer preferred. Since coat count depends on the wood and the look you want, we confirm it before starting.
It depends on the size of the job, the repairs needed and the weather. For example, outdoor staining needs dry surfaces, so rain can push the schedule back. Because of that, we give you a realistic timeline after we see the project in person.
